Remote access

Takealong sends Mac window images and your control input between your paired devices. The developer does not receive your screen contents, typing, or Mac login credentials. Camera access is used to scan a pairing code.

On your devices

The apps store preferences, saved Mac details, pairing credentials, and local diagnostic information needed to connect and troubleshoot. Your device name, model, and software version are shown on your paired Mac to help you recognize and manage its access; they are not sent to the developer. The Mac also stores pairing and last-connection dates. You can choose a different display name in Takealong. Pairing credentials use the system Keychain. You can remove saved Macs in the iPhone app and revoke paired devices on the Mac.

Updates and beta feedback

The Mac app contacts our update host to check for and download new versions. The hosting infrastructure receives ordinary connection information, including your IP address and requested file. The Takealong apps do not include advertising or usage-analytics trackers. Website analytics are optional and described below. Apple handles TestFlight distribution and crash reports under its own privacy policy.

When you choose Send Report, Takealong uploads your notes, optional reply email, app and operating-system versions, device model, and recent connection, video, window and input measurements to a private encrypted diagnostic store. When available, the report also includes recent measurements from your Mac. Reports do not include screenshots, passwords, typed text, clipboard contents or window titles. Your IP address is used transiently to limit abuse and is not saved in the report. We email ourselves a report notification and delete stored reports after 90 days. If you choose to email or share a report instead, your chosen email or sharing service handles it.

Tailscale

For access away from home, Takealong uses the Tailscale connection you set up separately. Tailscale's service and account data are governed by Tailscale's privacy policy.

Purchases

Apple handles the free trial and lifetime-access purchases. Takealong uses verified Apple transaction information on your device to determine access, restore purchases and recognize refunds. We do not receive your payment-card or bank details.

Website video

Website videos are served through our own hosting and content-delivery provider, rather than a third-party video player. That provider receives ordinary connection information, including your IP address and the requested file. Some demonstration clips load or play as you browse; the main film loads when you open it.

Optional website analytics

takealong.app uses optional Google Analytics to understand visits, referral sources, pages viewed, Mac download clicks, iPhone or TestFlight link clicks, film engagement, FAQ use and support-link clicks. Google receives website interaction and browser/device information, and processes connection information such as your IP address. This does not include activity inside the Takealong apps, remote screens, typed text, files, passwords or purchase receipts. A download or store-link click does not tell us whether you installed the app or bought Lifetime Access.

Visitors in the European Economic Area, UK and Switzerland are asked before Google Analytics loads. Elsewhere, analytics starts automatically unless you have turned it off. Our existing website host determines the regional policy from the connection’s country; the browser receives only whether consent is required, without GPS permission or a separate location provider. If the region cannot be determined, analytics stays off without showing a popup. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track browser signals also keep analytics off. No thanks always blocks analytics, and an earlier refusal stays respected. Your explicit choice is remembered on this browser for 180 days using local storage; automatic regional availability is not saved as your consent. You can change it using Analytics choices at the bottom of any page; withdrawing consent stops collection and clears this site’s Google Analytics cookies. Analytics cookies last up to 90 days. Non-campaign query parameters and URL fragments are excluded, and we send only the referring website’s origin. Google Signals and advertising-personalization features are disabled.
